At age 8, Rick was given a record player and some records, including “Drummin’ Man” an album featuring big band drummer Gene Krupa. this album was such an influence, Rick decided to take drum lessons, and that was his intro into the world of music

Forming SUPERTRAMP in 1970 with songwriting partner Roger Hodgson, they had several big hits in the 1970’s including “The Logical Song” “Breakfast in America” “Bloody Well Right” and “Goodbye Stranger. Hodgson left the group in 1983

Davies never took any formal lessons on keyboard, but taught himself everything he needed to know

His mother claimed “music was the only thing he was any good at at school”

Hit songwriter Gilbert O’ Sullivan (Alone Again Naturally) says Davies taught him drums and piano, and “in fact, everything about music”. O’Sullivan was also best man at Davies’ wedding

In 2015 , Rick was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an aggressive form of cancer that usually overtakes the patient in a few months, but Rick opted for experimental treatments, and his health is still stable
