Richard Tandy

Richard began taking piano lessons when he was 9 years old, and around this same time, was introduced to the electric guitar by classmates that would bring the instrument into their grammar school. Tandy would become proficient on both guitar and bass as well as piano

In one of Richard’s early bands called THE UGLYS, he got the job because he could play the intro to The Beatles “I AM THE WALRUS”!

Richaqrd got offered his position in the Electric Light Orchestra by multi-instrumentalist Roy Wood, who was already a member of ELO. Tandy started out initially as their bassist, but eventually switched over to full-time keyboards. His varied range of instruments, like The Minimoog, Clavinet, Wurlitzer, Mellotron, Oberheim, and Piano, helped define the band’s early sound

Nice backing piano for ELO bandmate and mega-talent Jeff Lynne
