Nicky Hopkins
Nicky began playing piano at age 3 studying with a local teacher
He was a frail child and suffered his whole life from Crohn’s Disease, a terrible inflammatory disease of the bowel and digestive tract, often requiring repeated surgeries.
A prodigy, he won a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the top conservatories in the world.
At the age of 16, Nicky joined “Screaming Lord Sutch”, an English singer who dressed as Jack The Ripper, and did a horror-themed show in the vein of Alice Cooper
Because of his Crohn’s Disease, touring with bands was difficult, so Nicky concentrated on studio work, where he racked up an incredible amount of sessions with a wide variety of great bands
He is best known for his association with The Rolling Stones, for whom he played on numerous albums. He is also known for his work with Led Zeppelin.
