David Rosenthal

David began taking piano lessons at age 7, and played in his first cover band when he was twelve

His high school band won a statewide talent expo in New Jersey performing the instrumental “Hoedown” by ELP

Rosenthal has perfect pitch

He went the to Berklee College of Music in Boston, and, while there, had a band with guitarist Steve Vai called Morning Thunder. He graduated from Berklee in 1981

In October of 1981 (not long after graduating from Berklee), Rosenthal auditioned for the keyboard position in RAINBOW, to replace Don Airey, who was leaving. He beat out 50 other contenders to get the spot

After leaving Rainbow, David was a touring band member with many different solo artists and bands, including Little Steven, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Palmer, White Snake, Steve Vai, Red Dawn and is currently Billy Joel’s musical director and keyboardist

Besides being a keyboard wizard, David has a strong talent for electronics, and has set up keyboard rigs and done synthesizer programming for some of music’s most prestigious keyboard artists
