Richard Tee
Richard began playing piano at age 3, and his mom started him on classical lessons when he was only 5, which he continued to take for over 12 years.
He graduated from The High School of Music and Art in NYC, and attended the Manhattan School of Music.
He is best known as a session/studio musician,, but had long time gigs with singers Roberta Flack and Aretha Franklin. He also played on albums, and/or did concerts with hundreds of artists including rockers like Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, George Harrison, Billy Joel, and The BeeGees. He was an amazingly eclectic player.
He played piano and Fender Rhodes at the Simon and Garfunkel concert in Central Park in 1981, which attracted 500,000 people!
Tee played on over 400 albums in his time. Sadly, this great musician died from prostate cancer in 1993 at the early age of 49.
