Besides keyboards, Winter also plays Saxophone, guitar, and percussion
Early in his career, Edgar invented the keyboard body strap which allowed keyboardists to move freely about the stage, and be out front with the guitarists
In late 1972, THE EDGAR WINTER GROUP released the album, “They Only Come Out At Night”, which produced 2 huge hits “Frankensein”, a heavy metal instrumental featuring Winter’s synthesizer, and “Free Ride”, another single release which was sung by band member Dan Hartman. The album stayed on the charts for 80 weeks
The album “Shock Treatment” began his long association with guitarist Rick Derringer who had replaced Ronnie Montrose
Winter toured in 2006, 2008 and 2010-11 as a member of Ringo Starr’s All-Starr band
Winter’s music has been featured in numerous film and television projects
