Kevin Moore
Kevin was born and grew up on Long Island, NY. He began piano lessons at age 6 and actually wrote his first song at age 12
He briefly studied Classical music at State University of NY at Fredonia, and also studied briefly at Berlee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
His first band was called Majesty which was formed with childhood friends John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Mike Portnoy (drums), and Chris Collins (vocals). After some ongoing personnel changes, the band was renamed Dream Theater which played progressive rock, and featured virtuostic players.
Dream Theater’s first album was released in 1989, and in 1992, their album “Images and Words” produced a top 10 single “Pull Me Under”. This was only one of many songs that Kevin contributed the lyrics to
After leaving Dream Theater, Moore moved around the country, releasing several solo albums with many different lineups of musicians. He also pursued film scoring, including a horror film soundtrack he composed while living in Turkey
