Claudio Simonetti

Claudio’s father was a well known musician in Italy, so being in a musical atmosphere, he began piano lessons at age 8. He later studied classical piano and composition at Santa Cecilia, the Conservatory in Rome, but at the same time was playing rock and roll in garage bands.

Best known for his electronic and progressive rock group, GOBLIN, Simonetti has also scored many Italian and American Horror films, including Deep Red, Suspira, and Dawn of the Dead. He has scored 14 films for Italian director Dario Argento

Claudio states, that among his musical influences are artists Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Brian Auger, and Tony Banks. He feels there is a strong correlation between classical music and progressive rock
