Burton Cummings
When Cummings was 5 or 6, he claimed his mother “forced” him to take piano lessons. (Thanks, Mom!)
When he was in high school in his home town of Winnipeg, he was fortunate enough to be in a band called The Deverons who got to open for big acts passing through Canada, including Roy Orbison, Gerry and The Pacemakers and The Guess Who, whom he would subsequently join. At only 16, He got a closeup look at the excitement of show business, and was hooked forever
in 1966 Cummings joined the Guess who. Three years later the band had their first hit with “These Eyes’ which Cummings co-wrote with guitarist Randy Bachman
He played the jazz-tinged flute solo on the Guess who’s hit “Undun”
